How to become a host
- SIGN UP
Express your interest in becoming a host for our international students. - GET THE WELCOME EMAIL AND CREATE YOUR PROFILE
Receive a welcome email with a link to critical information for you to read as well as to a form that you need to fill out. That will take 5-10 minutes of your time. - COMPLETE BACKGROUND CHECKS
Complete a background check consisting of a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or a Police Check. You may apply for WWCC here and for the Police Check here. - PURCHASE HOMESTAY INSURANCE (unless you have already have one)

Please send us a copy of the certificate at accommodation@scotsenglish.edu.au - HOUSE INSPECTING AND MEETING WITH STUDENTS’ ACCOMMODATION MANAGER
Advise Students Accommodation Manager of a suitable time for house inspection and host interview. During the interview, we will also create your profile on our system. - SIGN THE HOST AGREEMENT

Payments to Hosts
HOMESTAY FEES
The Weekly Homestay Fee is typically set at a fixed rate agreed upon before the start of the homestay arrangement. It essentially varies depending on the host’s location, type of accommodation and other services provided by the host such as meals if requested by the student.
The Weekly homestay fee includes:
• Meals (if required) and accommodation as specified
• Homestay host support for students
• SCOTS dedicated phone support and 24/7 emergency contact
• Ongoing monitoring of host suitability
COMMENCEMENT OF PAYMENTS
Hosts will start receiving payments as soon as the student arrives and settles in. The first 2-week payment will be made to you on the first scheduled pay run after the student’s arrival.
FREQUENCY OF PAYMENTS
After the initial 2-week payment, SCOTS will pay the hosts fortnightly so long as it (SCOTS) has received the payment from the student. Please note that SCOTS cannot pay you if it doesn’t receive the fees from the student.
HOW ARE THE PAYMENTS MADE
The payments are made to the host by electronic transfer to the host’s nominated bank account.
